Lil’ Bit and the Spectral Visitor

I do have one story of my pug and a ghost in the house we live in. To make it short: My Lil’ Bit (now deceased) was the first to sense this. There is a corner of the kitchen where she used to just stare and all of a sudden the hair on the back of her neck would stand up and then she would start to growl. This happened more than once. Paranormal Cinema: Horror Movies Scarier Than You Can Imagine

While you’re munching on your Halloween candy and celebrating the new president, I thought I’d discuss paranormal horror movies. You know, they’re the stories featuring a curse, ghost, or a guest appearance by the anti-Christ.

For the past decade, they’ve been lamented as Diet Coke terror, moody but not frightening. Let me tell you. This sub-genre can dump an elevator full of blood if you want. Still, if you’re a fan of this category of movies, you have had at least one person laugh and claim seeing a metal spike driven through a dude’s eyeball is way scarier.

Don’t worry. It is okay to be scared by the paranormal.

Films like Saw IV and slashers definitely thrill. Nothing like a blowtorch in your eye to teach you about life and death, eh? A movie is no less chilling when dealing with an invincible unknown force. Suddenly, you’re not safe anywhere. You can lock yourself inside, but ghosts can pull you into the walls. After the service, we were standing outside the chapel and I remarked to my two aunts (mum’s sisters) that I could feel her there. People More Likely To Believe In the Paranormal Then in God?

United Kingdom (Chattahbox) - A recent survey done for the release of the new X-Files movie “I Want To Believe” gave the surprising statistic that while 58% of people believe in the paranormal, only 54% believe in God. Almost a quarter of those who were surveyed admitted to having a supernatural experience of their own, and 33% said that their response came from a belief in ghosts and aliens.

The popularity of the paranormal has certainly increased in recent years. With scores of shows such as ‘Ghost Hunters’, ‘Monster Quest’, and ‘Most Haunted’, it isn’t surprising that more people are tuning into the after life, and with psychics and mediums being featured on networks as prominent as CNN, they have plenty to opportunities to get their fill.

So, what does this mean? Will belief in the paranormal begin to dwarf that in religion over the coming decade? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: whether you believe in God or Little Green Men, there will always be something that gives us a sense of wonder.
