Haunted Ghost Tours: A Step Back in Time
October 24, 2010 / 4546
Welcome to A Step Back In Time where you will be taken on a journey not to different place, but to a different time.
Samples of some of the tours you can choose from:
Madison, Indiana: Ever wonder what the carving on a gravestone meant or why a grave marker is shaped like it is? Why widows wore veils? Who were these people and what happened to them? What were the death and burial customs of the various ethnic groups in America? What was the real purpose of a wake? Join me in an evening tour by lantern and find out. Limited to 30 people per tour.
By Moonlight on the River
Ohio River: Alan Eckert wrote a book “That Dark and Bloody River” and named it thus for a reason. The river was once the highway into the heartland and with its obvious benefits of progress and settlement came adventure, tragedy, crime and legends. Take an evening stroll with me along the banks of the Ohio River and you will never view it quite the same.
Haunted Historic Tavern Pubcrawl
Taverns were an important part of early travel “public houses.” This lively rivertown boasted multiple taverns of differing eras. Meander down the dark alleys of Madison between federal era homes and carriage houses, visit three historic taverns, hear about their histories and their ghost tales! Appetizer is included as part of tour at two taverns.

Horse carriage transportation for tours is available for prescheduled tours of 6 or more. The price I’m currently able to negotiate for carriages is an additional $95 an hour (including minimum tip) for 6 persons per carriage, which will be divided by the size of group. I am able to arrange for up to 3 carriages with tours, holding up to 18-20 persons, if requested.
Walking tours last from 60-90 minutes, depending upon content and size of group. Cemetery tours limited to 30 persons. Note cemetery tours are not “haunted” tours, but discussion of various cemetery symbolism and burial customs.
The tavern tour lasts 90-120 minutes, depending on group size and liveliness! Must be 21 to enter taverns.
Details of the cholera epidemic may disturb impressionable children or children under 10 (Ohio River walk and John Paul Park).
Tours go rain or moonshine, except in severe weather.
All tours are guided by myself in historic clothing and by lantern in the evenings.

Halloween is an annual holiday observed on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Saints’ Day, but is today largely a secular celebration.
Common Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, carving jack-o’-lanterns, ghost tours, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, committing pranks, telling ghost stories or other frightening tales, and watching horror films.
