Anatomically Correct Strawberries and Cream Heart for Halloween Recipe
Servings: 5
Author Notes: Most of the recipes I’ve seen in the past for brain gelatin molds have focused on achieving a gross looking”gray matter” color. While this might be anatomically correct, trust me, it won’t make people want to eat it, regardless of how good it might taste. The infamous Kitty Litter Cake gets the same reaction — nobody actually wants to eat the darn thing, but it sure is funny.
This one bridges gap — the color is realistic enough for the effect (but not realistic as to be unappetizing), and the flavor is delicious. The strawberry coulis makes a nice blood-like effect on the serving platter or bowl (we used a stainless steel bowl for ours to give it that “hospital” look).
Links to buy the mold are at the end of this recipe.

Boris O’Sanchez’s Hand Halloween Gelatin Mold Recipe
Author Notes: Most of the recipes I’ve seen in the past for brain gelatin molds have focused on achieving a gross looking”gray matter” color. While this might be anatomically correct, trust me, it won’t make people want to eat it, regardless of how good it might taste. The infamous Kitty Litter Cake gets the same reaction — nobody actually wants to eat the darn thing, but it sure is funny.
So… I developed my brain gelatin molds more with taste in mind, which usually means the colors, if not the shape, are at least somewhat palatable.
This recipe makes a gelatin version of a of a White Irish Russian cocktail (vodka, Kahlua and a little Irish Cream thrown in for good measure). It makes a dramatic statement on a Halloween buffet table. The hand in the photo directly below is just the recipe below, with adornment. The hand in the photo at the bottom of the page has been painted with food coloring — either directly out of the bottle for liquid, or thinned with a little water for paste type.

Kitty Litter Cake for Halloween
Servins: 14
Author Notes: This clever Halloween cake recipe, that frightfully resembles a well used kitty litter box, is actually delicious, despite its appearance. For the proper presentation, use a brand new (and definitely unused) plastic cat litter box and spoon it onto plates with a new (NEVER used) pooper scooper.
Be warned, generally this cake will not get eaten much. People just can’t seem to get back the appearance, no matter how good it may taste. Read more …

Bloody Eyeball Hors d’Oeuvres for Halloween
Author Notes:
These little snacks, made from olive stuffed radishes will get quite a reaction when artfully displayed on your Halloween buffet. They’re really un-nerving!
You can also freeze these “eyeballs” to use in cocktails like our Bloody Eyeball Martini.

1 pimiento stuffed green olive Read more …
