SYNOPSIS
Universal Studios resurrects the classic lycanthrope with this tale of an American who experiences an unsettling transformation after returning to his ancestral home in Victorian-era Great Britain and being attacked by a rampaging werewolf. His brother having recently vanished without a trace, haunted nobleman Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro) returns to his family estate to investigate. What he discovers upon reuniting with his estranged father (Anthony Hopkins), however, is a destiny far darker than his blackest nightmares. As a young boy, the untimely death of his mother caused Talbot to grow up before his time. Q: There definitely is a growing public interest in paranormal investigation in the media – several popular TV shows and many websites. What’s different about the ParaExplorers concept?
Marie: Our concept is markedly different than mainstream paranormal investigation by two key tenets. First, our charter is to explore a variety of phenomenological subject matter; we are not strictly limited to traditional topics like “ghost hunting” or “UFO chasing”. A Distant Soil is a science fiction/fantasy comic book series written and illustrated by Colleen Doran, and is the work for which she is best known.
The story, which Doran created at the age of twelve, centers on a young girl who is born heir to an alien religious dynasty, and explores issues of politics, gender identity, and tolerance.
Its strong characterization and elegant art style has inspired the Young American Library Association to profile the book in their quarterly journal, and it has been nominated for the Spectrum Award for Best Science Fiction in the Other category in 2001.
A Distant Soil was originally published by Wendy and Richard Pini’s WaRP Graphics, but Doran subsequently left the company due to an acrimonious dispute with Richard Pini, whom she alleged was attempting to claim copyright on her work.
The WaRP version of the story was never reprinted, despite its unusual all-pencil style, although in one collected volume of the new series Doran did reprint the short Distant Soil story “R & R” that had appeared in a WaRP anthology. Read more …
C.S.Lewis’ Narnia Chronicles Based on Medieval Astrology, Says Scholar

The theme of C.S. Lewis’ ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ is based on the seven planets forming the heavens in medieval astrology, says a scholar whose theory has been examined in a BBC documentary.
The theory, proposed by Reverend Dr Michael Ward, has come after more than 50 years of literary and theological speculation arguing whether Lewis formed the classic children literature bearing a particular pattern in mind or painted his characters and incidents randomly, reports the Daily Telegraph.
In his book Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of CS Lewis, Ward has claimed that Lewis, a leading medieval scholar who never revealed the hidden theme behind the series, had based the theme of each of the book on the basis of the characteristics traced to the seven planets.
The books, the first of which has seen a film adaptation in 2005, have already been debated to work on two levels: the fantasy narrative that has made the series a favourite amongst generations of children, and the Christian liaison that sees the lion Aslan as a representation of Christ.
According to Norman Stone, director and producer of the documentary ‘The Narnia Code’, the theory has been the “best explanation yet” to offer insight into the hidden theme behind the seven fantasy novels for children. Read more …

- Step2 A Halloween party theme for children that will knock their socks off is the monster mash theme. Have everyone come dressed as their favorite monsters. This party theme will work for children of all ages. Make sure to have the song the monster mash blasting from the stereo to keep the theme going through out the party. Between November 1989 and April 1990 the Belgian Air Force scrambled fighter jets to investigate potential UFOs in its airspace.
Despite reports from police, radar contact and other eyewitness accounts, the authorities never established what was repeatedly hovering unannounced in their skies.
The first wave of observations began on November 29 and three days later on the evening of December 2, two F-16s were sent to the Liege area to investigate a sighting.
They found nothing.
