You’ll Need

3 ornate metal belt buckles
1 pumpkin, about 12 inches tall
Pencil or marker
Knife
Craft glue
1 ornate lamp finial
Cordless drill fitted with ¼-inch bit
4 gourds, about 4 inches tall
2 quarter-inch dowel rods, cut to the approximate diameter of your pumpkin

Fantasy and Sci-Fi Together Again

Found this metallic foil art over at our friend’s place this weekend. Turns out she has been holding onto this gem since the 80s. It is a real treat to see dragons, fiery sci-fi landscapes and pilots coexisting in one fantastic, 3-d, shiny medium. Thanks Dorothy!

Musical Ghosts, Musical Ghosts…

I live in Albany, New York. The whole thing started last month. I was in my bedroom, like I usually am after school, doing homework.

I started to hear music, bone-chilling piano music. I figured that my father must be playing the piano downstairs. I ignored it at first. Then I began to hear footsteps running down the hallway. I instantly knew it was my younger brother kidding again with his friends. I put that one aside… until the footsteps got louder and I couldn’t help but checking it out.

I looked in the hallway and my brother was nowhere to be found. I went back into my bedroom. Then I heard soft violin music with the piano. No problem, I thought, my sister plays violin. All through the next hour, I heard footsteps, the piano and the violin. I decided I was going downstairs to tell them to be quieter.

When I came downstairs, my mom was in the kitchen.

“Hey, are dad and Lia having ‘band practice’?” I asked, rolling my eyes.

“We sold the piano last week,” my mom said, looking at me cross. Read more …

Spontaneous Human Combustion (Big Mystery)

Spontaneous human combustion is the mysterious phenomenon of a person bursting into flame for no apparent reason.

The flames burn very hot and are very localized. They destroy most of the body but leave objects in close proximity to the person relatively unburned.

These are the remains of Dr. John Bentley (on left)who died of spontaneous combustion in Pennsylvania in 1966. The spot where the body lay is burnt, but the rest of the room, including the toilet, was not even scorched. This shows a quick, hot flame that devoured the body in seconds. Read more …
