* Hundreds of interesting and varied quests
* Death knight class is a lot of fun to play

The Bad

Four years and well beyond 10 million subscriptions after the release of World of Warcraft, Blizzard’s phenomenally successful massively multiplayer online role-playing game is barely recognizable as the same game that sold almost a quarter of a million copies in its first 24 hours. The game has been in a near-constant state of evolution since 2004, and up until last month, the steady flow of new features and improvements had all been patched in for free, with only one exception: the Burning Crusade expansion pack that’s required to play Wrath of the Lich King. The recently released second expansion pack doesn’t boast as many back-of-the-box bullet points as its predecessor, and it doesn’t offer anything for new players, but if you’re still playing WOW or you’re looking for an excuse to get back into it, this thrilling new adventure is not to be missed.

All of the new content in Wrath of the Lich King comes with a character-level requirement. You can’t play the new death knight hero class until one of your existing characters reaches level 55, and you can’t attempt any quests in the new Northrend continent until you’re at level 68. The most significant exception to this rule would have been the new inscription-crafting profession, but that ended up being patched in shortly before the expansion’s release alongside new talents for every character class in the game, an Xbox Live-style achievements system, barbershops, an extremely useful in-game calendar, and numerous user-interface improvements. There’s new content for low-level players, but you don’t need the expansion pack to get it. Read more …

The small, serene community of Grovetown is shaken by the dual suicide of a young couple. When more suicides quickly follow, people in the evangelical town turn a blind eye and cling firmly to their deep-seated beliefs. Lindsay (Elizabeth Rice), a local student and girlfriend of the pastor’s son, is not so dismissive. She begins to prod deeper into the mystery and befriends Aidan (Thomas Dekker), a non-believer whose family has stirred controversy before. Lindsay soon discovers that something evil and indescribable is at work, moving parasitically from victim to victim

Religion, suicide and witchcraft are the terrifying threads of cinematographer/director Phedon (3:10 to Yuma) Papamichael’s supernatural shocker. Inexplicable deaths are plaguing the village of Grovetown. Fundamentalist fanatic Dylan blames the seeming suicides on dark forces. In particular outsider Aidan just arrived back in town after the suspicious fiery death of his mother whom the locals proclaimed a devil-worshipper. Read more …

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007), Poster, Synopsis, Plot and Movie Trailer

February 2, 2009 / 29908

:

An alien spaceship crash lands in a small Colorado town, triggering an alien invasion, and the only thing that can stop it is an alien from yet another world.

Fanboys the world over let out a collective drool in 2004 when the thought of the Alien and Predator franchises colliding on the big screen finally became a reality. However, the final result could never live up to the expectations, and while the film was a success at the box office, reactions were decidedly mixed. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem purportedly aims to correct the first movie’s errs in judgment, but other than changing the rating from PG-13 to R, little about this sequel improves on the previous film. In fact, it vies with Alien: Resurrection for the worst entry in either series.

The Plot

Picking up where 2004’s Alien vs. Predator left off, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem opens with a Predator ship leaving Antarctica with the body of the first film’s Predator “hero” on board. Once in space, though, an Alien-Predator hybrid bursts through the hero’s chest and wreaks havoc on the ship, causing it to crash in rural Colorado. The last surviving Predator manages to send a distress signal to his stony home planet before he’s killed by the “Predalien.” A lone Predator picks up the signal and sets off to eradicate the Alien threat and save Earth (Earth apparently not being worth an entire rescue party). They all have there own foibles and problems to deal with, but they have a deadline to meet at work and issues are put aside as they all head off on their trip. Again we see the driver battling against sleep but this time he avoids the truck and they all believe they have had a lucky escape. They stop the van and step outside but soon realise all is not as it seems, are they really dead or are they in hospital battling to stay alive?
