Poster: The Day The Earth Stood Still Banner (2008)
August 30, 2008 / 4087
That title is really just me trying to reach out to all of you and let you know that I have, in fact, seen the original 1951 version of The Day the Earth Stood Still. I have also seen its not-so-distant cousin Stranger from Venus (also known as Immediate Disaster). That is why when I say that I am just a little bit nervous about Keanu Reeves starring in the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, there is something more behind that feeling than just my usual brand of cynicism. For some reason I just don’t see Keanu pulling off the role of Klaatu, which was originally played wonderfully by Michael Rennie.
Yet despite my reservations about the soon to be surfer boy space traveler, I am interested to see a modern take on the classic, because as you know, special effects have come along way from what they were in 1951. And for those not following along, The Day the Earth Stood Still is the story of a stranger from another planet who is sent down to Earth to warn humanity that all of the hydrogen bomb building, the violence and the politics could lead to the rest of the universe wiping out the planet. It is a story wrought with religious allegory and political relevance, and that was in the years following World War II — I can only imagine what they will come up with for this new version. That said, I have two thoughts: one is that I hope that while the message is there, the film stays away from being too preachy. Secondly, I would like to see Al Gore play Gort. That could be fun.
Anyway, I tell you that story to tell you this one: The folks over at Film1.nl, who seem to have found the 2008 Cinema Expo amongst all the other fun things one could do in Amsterdam, have uncovered the first piece of banner art for the film, which can be seen below:
The film will also star Jennifer Connelly in the role of Helen, which was originally played by Patricia Neal. Kathy Bates, John Cleese and Will Smith’s son Jaden will also star. It is being directed by Scott Derrickson, who previously brought us The Exorcism of Emily Rose. The Day the Earth Stood still is to be released by 20th Century Fox on December 12, 2008. Read more …

The Walking Dead is an American monthly black and white comic published by Image Comics beginning in 2003. The comic was created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore (replaced by Charlie Adlard from issue #7 onward) and chronicles the travels of a group of people trying to survive in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse.
Synopsis
The Walking Dead is centered around a small-town police officer from Cynthiana, Kentucky, his family, and a number of other survivors who have banded together in order to survive after the world is overrun with zombies. As the series progresses, the characters become more developed, and their personalities shift under the stress of a zombie apocalypse. Fighting growing despair — and occasionally each other — the group searches for a secure location which they can finally call home.
Days Gone Bye (issues #1-6)
The story opens with Rick Grimes and his partner Shane in a gunfight with an escaped convict. While trying to disarm the criminal, Rick gets shot and blacks out. When he awakes an unspecified time later, he finds himself in a hospital bed, completely alone.
Finding the hospital abandoned, Grimes sets off to find out where everyone went. He finds the hospital’s cafeteria crowded with the living dead, and barely escapes with his life. He returns to his home, only to find it abandoned as well — and he catches a shovel in the back of the head. When he awakens, again, he discover that a young boy named Duane Jones had hit him, believing him to be a zombie. After a brief introduction, Duane’s father Morgan explains what has happened while Rick was comatose: a plague of the dead has swept all civilization. Duane and Morgan have taken up in Rick’s neighbor’s house, hoping to ride it out. Read more …

Exorcism Islam (Video)
August 24, 2008 / 4341
Exorcism (from Late Latin exorcismus, from Greek exorkizein - to adjure) is the practice of evicting demons or other evil spiritual entities from a person or place which they are believed to have possessed. The practice is quite ancient and part of the belief system of many countries.
The person performing the exorcism, known as an exorcist, is often a member of the clergy, or an individual thought to be graced with special powers or skills. The exorcist may use prayers, and religious material, such as set formulas, gestures, symbols, icons, amulets, etc.. The exorcist often invokes God, Jesus and/or several different angels and archangels to intervene with the exorcism.
In general, possessed persons are not regarded as evil in themselves, nor wholly responsible for their actions. Therefore practitioners regard exorcism more as a cure than as a punishment. The mainstream rituals usually take this into account, making sure that there is no violence to the possessed, only that they be tied down if there is potential for violence.
Silent Hill - Trailer (Comedy), Poster Movie, Definition and More
August 24, 2008 / 2610
Silent Hill (サイレントヒル, Sairento Hiru?) is a survival horror video game franchise developed and published by Konami. As of 2008, most installments have been created by Team Silent with the exception of two titles, Silent Hill: Origins by Climax Studios and Silent Hill: Homecoming by Double Helix games.
There are currently five main Silent Hill games (with a sixth under production), all of which were released to strong sales and critical acclaim.[citation needed] The success of these games has generated a series of comic books, a film adaptation (with a second under development), and novelizations.
Common features in the Silent Hill games include horror and action-adventure elements, detailed and disturbing environments, a chilling soundtrack provided by series composer Akira Yamaoka, and a complex storyline revealed through numerous cinematic cut scenes, in-game documents and in-game notes. Each game unfolds like a movie with several possible endings; the player’s choices during the game determine which ending is shown.
