Haunted Ghost Tours: A Step Back in Time
October 24, 2010 / 4548
Welcome to A Step Back In Time where you will be taken on a journey not to different place, but to a different time.
Samples of some of the tours you can choose from:
Madison, Indiana: Ever wonder what the carving on a gravestone meant or why a grave marker is shaped like it is? Why widows wore veils? Who were these people and what happened to them? What were the death and burial customs of the various ethnic groups in America? What was the real purpose of a wake? Join me in an evening tour by lantern and find out. Limited to 30 people per tour.
By Moonlight on the River
Ohio River: Alan Eckert wrote a book “That Dark and Bloody River” and named it thus for a reason. The river was once the highway into the heartland and with its obvious benefits of progress and settlement came adventure, tragedy, crime and legends. Take an evening stroll with me along the banks of the Ohio River and you will never view it quite the same.
Haunted Historic Tavern Pubcrawl
Taverns were an important part of early travel “public houses.” This lively rivertown boasted multiple taverns of differing eras. Meander down the dark alleys of Madison between federal era homes and carriage houses, visit three historic taverns, hear about their histories and their ghost tales! Appetizer is included as part of tour at two taverns.

Haunted Place To Visit In Halloween: The May-Stringer House
Investigations
April ‘08: Haunted Florida had many experiences during this investigation. A light on the upstairs porch turned on and off by itself. While holding an investigation with dowsing rods in the attic, we were able to connect with one of the “not so pleasant” spirits of the house, Mr. Nasty. We also were able to communicate with little Jessie May and perhaps another child spirit. We heard noises in the corner of the attic and also the sound of padded slippers walking over to our group. The dowsing rods were very busy in accordance with the questions we were asking the spirits. Team members’ electric candles dimmed and turned on and off upon specific requests. Team member Mike Rebman’s candle turned off before we entered the haunted attic and Dale Pollauf’s flashlight mysteriously stopped working in haunted military room but immediately started working again once we left the house. Quite a few orbs were photographed downstairs after the victrola was turned on by docent Bonnie. Haunted Florida will be returning to the house on August 9th for a follow up visit.
August ‘08: During this investigation, noises were heard by Kimberly Rebman and docent Terri while standing in the kitchen. The sound of footsteps and some strange banging sounds from behind the stove were heard. Candles continuously went dead on the stairs, even after batteries were replaced. In the attic, Mr. Nasty was up to his old tricks by causing Kimberly Rebman to become extremely ill. Kimberly began to feel light headed and nearly passed out and abrubtly stopped the investigation due to this sudden onset of nausea and dizziness. Other group members began feeling pain in their head and uneasiness. A couple of women reported that they felt as if they were going to vomit. The investigation had to come to a close. Also in the attic, a green glowing ball of light was spotted and some strange banging noises were heard. Audio on my night vision camera set in the attic picked up EVP of a child’s voice singing. Follow up investigation scheduled for December.
Dec.’08: Ten members of Haunted Florida came out for the investigation. As exciting as it is to have a full team, it can also hinder spiritual energy. Although we did not get as much activity as nights past, we did have some of our cameras go dead, even after replacing batteries. Two of the more stranger events which occured: Investigator Jason Dowd discovered a white, powdery handprint on his black shirt in the beginning half of the investigation. The handprint appeared shortly after a few of us began feeling extreme heat in a room where the temperature readings only registered at 65 degrees. Three of us reported this rise in temperature. Jason further stated he felt a burning sensation on his skin. A few minutes later, the handprint showed up on Jason’s shirt. The handprint was small in size, perhaps an adult female. Upon further investigation, we discovered a ring on one of fingers and the pinky finger looked skeletal and boney. Underneath Jason’s shirt in this spot, there was a red scratch mark. Jason admitted this scratch was not there earlier and it did burn. Another situation that night was in Jessie May’s bedroom. A Christmas tree was set in the room as a decoration and at one point during our investigation, the angel ornament near the bottom of the tree started to move on its own. When we asked it to stop, it would. This occured for a few minutes. The ornament would sway back and forth slowly and then would go back and forth again quite rapidly. None of the other ornaments moved at all. This concluded the investigation for the night. A couple members reported cobwebby sensations on their faces.
