You heard about it online, watched the freaky trailer on YouTube (along with 2 million others) and winced about its utterly insane, ‘100% medically accurate’ premise. And now after winning both fans and awards at numerous film festivals around the world, the most talked about horror film of the year, is finally crawling its way into town as Toronto After Dark’s Closing Gala film! Prepare to be shocked by Tom Six’s THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE. The truly twisted tale features two American tourists with car trouble who seek help at the house of Dr. Heiter (the outlandish Dieter Laser), a physician who specialized in separating Siamese twins but now wants to create… a human centipede. The madder-than-mad doctor sews the girls, and a Japanese tourist, together – butt-to-mouth! – and marches them around his yard. Toronto After Dark Film Festival: Rubber (2010)
October 11, 2010 / 27619
A story about Robert, a killer tire with feelings, musician Mr Oizo’s offbeat film was the talk of the Cannes Film Festival!
The Buzz
“Clever and uniquely interesting …This bizarre black comedy horror is completely self-aware, combining never-before-seen narration with a cute, yet terrifying narrative story about a tire that likes to kill…..It’s funny, gory and downright INSANE.” - Bloody-Disgusting
“Probably the best film you’ll ever see about a telekinetic killer tire… a whole lot of fun.” - Joblo.Com’s Arrow-in-the=Head
Official Selection - Cannes Film Festival
Synopsis
Why should you see RUBBER? No Reason. It is only the most deliriously insane and wonderful movie-going experience of the year. Robert is a tire. Yes, a tire. And he’s alive and livid. Why so angry? Well there is a reason this time. Humanity doesn’t treat tires all that well, and when Robert sees humans burning a whole pile of his brethren… Well… Robert gets a little mad. And you see… not only is Robert (the tire) sentient, he also has the power of telekinesis. He can make things explode. That’s quite unfortunate for several of the characters in this tale of a Goodyear gone bad, but a source of entertainment for an audience, both the one within the film (a Greek chorus of sorts) and the one sitting in a dark theatre watching it (you!). Directed by Quentin Dupieux. Perhaps a person better known to you as the electronic music maestro Mr. Oizo, but soon to be known everywhere as the director of RUBBER, a movie about a tire that is utterly brilliant and absolutely hilarious. Anchor Bay’s much-anticipated and very gruesome remake of the controversial rape-revenge horror film of the same name
The Buzz
“An intensely brutal film carrying some of the best gore I’ve seen the past few years….” - Bloody-Disgusting
“In this day of gutless remakes and reboots Monroe stays shockingly true to Zarchi’s vision and delivers” - Sound on Sight
“The killings are creative, and unbelievably gruesome, although considering what our heroine’s gone through, you may find yourself cheering her on….It’s a solid, well made film that should please hardcore horror fans.” - Joblo.com’s Arrow-in-the-Head
Official Selection - Fantasia Film Festival, Montreal
Synopsis
Steven R. Monroe’s remake of Meir Zarchi’s infamous 1978 rape/revenge cult goes for the throat… and just about everything else. Sarah Butler gives a raw performance as Jennifer, a writer from the city who escapes to a lakefront cabin to work quietly on her latest book but instead invokes the rage of a group of local men. Raped beaten and left for dead, she disappears into the bayou, her attackers assuming she’s dead. But Jennifer survives and enacts some of the most savage revenge ever committed to film—SAW franchise included! Crass exploitation? Feminist filmmaking? Both? Ask Monroe himself, who will be on hand for a Q&A. Just be warned! I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE ain’t for the faint of heart. Read more …

A disfigured young man is haunted by demons on the streets of London in this acclaimed new horror thriller from Philip Ridley (THE REFLECTING SKIN)
The Buzz
“A brave, bold film, unrelentingly personal, thrilling, heartbreaking and downright terrifying….impeccably produced and beautifully acted by all concerned, Heartless simply cannot be recommended highly enough.” - Twitch Film

Synopsis
Elusive cult director Philip Ridley (THE REFLECTING SKIN, THE PASSION OF DARKLY NOON) returns to the screen after a 14-year absence with another masterpiece of sublime horror. Jamie Morgan (played by rising star Jim Sturgess) was born with a disfiguring birthmark across his face, leaving him an outcast in his rough East London neighbourhood. While wandering abandoned yards taking photographs of the dereliction, Jamie comes across a gang of thugs responsible for recent heinous crimes. With his camera, he discovers that they are something other than human. Jamie is lead into a Faustian deal that will see him become a party to the terrifying chaos around him. Part David Lynch, part Guillermo del Toro, this dark urban thriller takes its audience to the darkest and most violent corners of the human heart.
