EVP Stories from the AA-EVP Big Circle Part 1
August 12, 2008 / 887
Stories told by people who have recorded the voice of their loved one using Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP). The Big Circle is a name given by Martha Copeland’s daughter, Cathy, for people in the physical and in the etheric who help one another in life. This is an American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena (AA-EVP) project.
EVP: A Need for Protocol

AN OPEN LETTER to ghost researchers from Stacey Jones, founder of Central New York Ghost Hunters:
I have been doing some reading on the paranormal, specifically the belief in the paranormal. The three books I am reading are college text books, called How to Think About Weird Things, Paranormal Beliefs: A Sociological Introduction and Hauntings and Poltergeists: Multidisciplinary Perspectives.
1. How to Think About Weird Things is interesting and, as I am reading into chapter 4, doesn’t seem to dismiss the paranormal… yet.
2. Paranormal Beliefs: A Sociological Introduction is making me angry. I read the first page and wanted to find the author and make him lap the water from my loo. I have a B.A. Degree in Sociology, and minors in Education, History, Social Justice and Physics. I’m not by any means Mensa material, but not so dumb I can’t reason or keep an open mind – after all, a lot of scientific discoveries throughout the ages had no explanation for centuries. With perseverance, many dug and dug and evolved their theories into the most profound scientific discoveries.
EVP: Holographic Imprints What if EVP Are Just Multidimensional Recordings?

SOMETHING HAS always bothered me about electronic voice phenomena (EVP). If these are the voices of the dead, then the fate of these people is a highly disturbing one. They are still loitering about the Earth, lost. And if this sad fate is possible for those people, it’s possible for you and me as well. Personally, I don’t relish the thought of wandering around eternity, answering trite questions from legions of ghost hunters.
The traditional view of the afterlife, for those who believe there is an afterlife, is that we move on to a different (hopefully higher) plane of existence. Some think we receive our reward by going to Heaven or are punished with an eternity in Hell, depending on how we have lived our lives. In either case, we don’t hang around here.
The Disturbing Implications of Electronic Voice Phenomena

EVP: Beyond White Noise
Electronic voice phenomena is today one of the most fascinating areas of paranormal research. Human-sounding voices from unknown origin are recorded on such electronic media as tape recorders, digital voice recorders, video recorders and other devices. Strangely, the voices are not heard at the time of the recording; it is only when the recording is played back that the voices are heard.
(Contrary to the premise of the film White Noise, EVPs are very often found without the use of “white noise” – random static from a radio or television – although this method has been used successfully.)
The phenomenon has been experienced and documented virtually since the invention of recording devices. Skeptics reasoned that the voices were caused by stray radio broadcasts or pre-recorded voices on re-used tapes. EVP researchers were quick to dismiss the second reason, affirming that they only used sealed new tapes for their recordings. And then, of course, digital recorders, which require no tapes, made that argument irrelevant – the voices still showed up.
EVP, The Next Level: Getting Proof

ELECTRONIC VOICE PHENOMENA, or EVP, is one of the most fascinating areas of ghost research. Human-sounding voices of unknown origin are captured on audio recordings. Ghost hunting groups around the world now routinely include voice recorders as part of their standard equipment for ghost hunts in the hopes of capturing EVP. They are often successful.
For the most part, however, the recordings are as far as they go. Rarely is there any follow-up to determine whose voices they are or where they come from. Are they indeed voices of the dead… or something else?
Today, the American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena (AA-EVP) is taking EVP research to a new level. Through scientific experiments, they hope to provide more understanding of this intriguing mystery. I spoke with Tom Butler, Co-Director of AA-EVP, about the group’s work.
The Most Horrific EVP Ever Recorded (Audio and Video)

Central New York Ghost Hunters capture a terrifying scene from the past
By Stephen Wagner, About.com
IN JANUARY, 2007, the Central New York Ghost Hunters (CNYGH), based in Syracuse, New York, were invited to investigate an old hotel in upstate New York. (The owners of the hotel have asked to keep its location confidential.) The investigation proved to be one of the most intensely active the group has ever encountered, and produced an EVP – an electronic voice phenomena recording – that is remarkable not only for its length, but also for its terrifying content.
It may well be the most intense, frightening EVP ever recorded.
THE INVESTIGATION
On that weekend in January, CNYGH founder Stacey Jones and several members of the group went to the hotel on an overnight stay for what they thought would be a routine investigation. They had no idea what they were in for…
Ghost hunters seek spirits in Southeast Texas with EVP
August 3, 2008 / 997
Inside a century-old house in Orange strange things have been happening, the owners say.
Family members claim they’ve seen candlesticks fly off shelves and empty rocking chairs that rock, stop, then rock again. They say they have heard voices that don’t belong calling out their names.
Who are they going to call?
Around here the Texas Society of Paranormal Investigators.
Don Dennis, the group’s founder, interviewed family members Saturday to prepare for a future investigation.
Next month, he said, a team of 10 ghost hunters will set up equipment that includes infrared cameras, a thermal camera and audio recorders.
Afterward, team members will review any abnormal images or unusual voice recordings - known as electronic voice phenomena - and try to identify a logical explanation before chalking the cause up to ghosts or spirits.
The investigation might require team member Mike Ardoin, who accompanied Dennis on the interview, to crawl through the attic, where they believe a spirit could be squatting.
