Synopsis / Plot

After unsuccessfully trying to have a baby of their own, Dr. Kim Do-il and his father convince his wife Choi Mi-sook to adopt a child in an orphanage. Mi-sook is connected to arts and chooses the six years Kim Jin-sung that loves to draw trees. The boy becomes close to the eight years old next door neighbor Min-jee and is attracted to an old Acacia tree in their lawn. When Mi-sook unexpectedly gets pregnant, her mother asks her to return Jin-sung to the orphanage, beginning the rejection process of the boy. When the baby is born, Mi-sook does not treat Jin-sung well, who believes the acacia tree is his mother, and in a rainy night he vanishes. Along the next days, the family becomes insane, disclosing a dark secret about Jin-sung.

In a cold dark shaded anatomy classn room, 6 student prosectors are taking part in anatomy class Sun-hwa, Ki-bum, Joong-suk, Eun-joo, Ji-young and Kyung-min are smart medical college freshmen in the same anatomy class. Juzo Murasaki is a young introvert who’s moved to a new town where he has a new job.

On his first day at a construction site he meets his foreman and realises that, to his quiet horror, the foreman is no other than Toru Akai.

Akai was solely responsible for making Juzo’s life hell by bullying him for years at school. It soon becomes clear that Akai - now a married man with a kid - hasn’t changed one bit.

He’s still a callous, mean-streaked bully who’s bent on mistreating people under his control. Although he doesn’t recognise his former victim, he automatically adds Juzo to his list of victims at the construction site.

When Juzo discovers that Akai lives upstairs from him at their apartment block, he’s started to feel the effects of his traumatic experiences of being bullied by Akai and his crones.

Plot:

(Chinese: 聊齋艷譚; pinyin: Liáo zhāi yàn tán) is a Hong Kong erotic film remake of the 1987 film The Witches of Eastwick. Directed by Lam Ngai Kai and starring Amy Yip, So Man, Hitomi Kudo and Manfred Wong, it was released in 1990, though it was first screened in 1987 at the Stiges Film Festival in Spain.

Erotic Ghost Story revolves around three fairies (played by Yip, Man and Kudô) who have attained human form. Upon helping a hapless scholar, the trio begin to have lustful thoughts about him. This soon leads to many erotic romps and the eventual discovery that he is a dangerous demon.

Erotic Ghost Story was a breakthrough film for Amy Yip, who went on to have a career starring in similarly sexy roles such as Sex and Zen, garnering a cult following of fans in the process. The film was also followed by three sequels which were unrelated in plot. Erotic Ghost Story II is particularly notable for featuring Anthony Wong Chau Sang in an early role.
