Got something to say?
We are hosting a Bram Stoker Festival and for the first time it will be held in Bram Stoker’s home town of Clontarf in Dublin Ireland ,from 27-31st October 2010
We invite fans, scholars and enthusiasts of Gothic, Horror, Bram Stoker, Dracula, Science Fiction etc. around the world to join us on a new voyage!
In the lead up to the Bram Stoker Centenary in April 2012, the new and invigorated Stoker Dracula Organisation incorporates its 20th International Summer School into a Halloween Horror Festival to be held in the fitting surrounds of the character laden, baronial gothic Clontarf Castle on Castle Avenue, Clontarf – Bram Stokers hometown. The festival dates are October 27th- 31st, 2010.
Be part of it! Be with us! Prepare now!
The Festival represents a bright (or dark!) new future for Stoker Dracula and the Gothic in general. Events will be dazzling, daring, challenging, different, ever unique in the chilling nocturnal Clontarf Halloween winds!
Events include:
1. An international Vampire World Championship Cloak Race – with the winner declared a genuine world champion!
2. A Bram Stoker Clontarf Ghost Walk with a visit to the ancient Clontarf Cemetery containing the ruins of the church where Stoker was baptised in 1847.
3. Three unique artistic competitions in Gothic Horror.
A) We invite entries to the Stoker Academy Short Horror Film Competition. Films must be of no more than 15 minutes duration – in film, documentary or animation – and deal with a subject of the gothic/horror genre. Frist Prize 1000euro
B) We invite entries for the Stoker Academy Gothic Horror Writing Competition. The format can be a prose piece, a short story, a poem, a play (drama) or a song/ballad. The theme must be gothic/horror with a maximum of 2000 words.
First Prize 500euro
C) The third competition is in the field of photography. You are invited to enter photos concerning a time, place, event, building, person etc. of a gothic/horror nature. Photos must be titled and mounted – minimum size 8 inch x 12 inch.
First Prize 500euro
* All competitions are open to everyone, everywhere!
* The closing date for entries to all competitions is October 1st, 2010.
* Use English language only
* All entries must be original and not have won a prize in any other competition.
4. A Science Fiction Convention with a horror mastermind quiz and a scream party.
5. Invited speakers on various Stoker/Dracula/Gothic topics.
6. Stoker/Dracula movies and documentaries will be screened.
7. Access for all to our gothic library.
P.S. As one who has laboured in this particular vineyard (or graveyard) for over 20 years now, I call on all gothic/sci fi societies, clubs, organisations, groups etc. to rally to this call and make this a fitting festival to Bram Stoker, Dracula and all things gothic.
