October 31, 2009 / 1102

is a child’s favorite time of year next to Christmas. They get to dress up and collect candy. For a child, that’s very exciting and a lot of fun as well. It is however, important that we keep children safe during the process.

Instructions / Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Ever child should be escorted while trick or treating by an adult.

Step2
Before opening candy, check all candy by unwrapping, cutting and cautiously going through all candy before it is eaten.

Step3
Keep children close as you cross streets and as you go from door to door.

Step4
Give children a curfew, unless they are under a certain age like 14, you should be with them.

Step5
Give them a cell phone just incase you need to get in touch with them.

Step6
Be sure you know who they are trick or treating with so you can feel at ease when they head out.

Step7
If they are going out with another adult, be sure you have that adult’s phone number and give them your number as well.

Step8
If they are trick or treating after dusk, make sure they wear reflective tape on the costumes or trick or treat bags.

Step9
Only under an adult’s supervision should the pumpkin be carved.
